Foundation for Direct Democracy
The non-party foundation for direct democracy promotes the political participation of the population. It supports civil society projects based on values such as human rights, social justice, equality and sustainability.
The foundation ensures the operation of the democracy platform WeCollect and provides free digital tools for launching initiatives and referendums. As the first crowd foundation in Switzerland, the foundation stands on the shoulders of a growing community of committed citizens.
In order to help avert the negative effects of the pandemic on direct democracy, the foundation has decided to give more support to initiatives and referendums. WeCollect has been available to the committees free of charge since September 2020. The foundation assumes the entire postage costs for the signature sheets that are collected via the platform. The Board of Trustees hopes that this will encourage committees to start initiatives and referendums - despite the adverse circumstances - and push them across the finish line.
